Description

Chamá style polychrome vase decorated with a procession of three warriors in left profile, with their bodies painted in black and carrying spears and round shields. Their attire include headdresses and a hipcloth or maxtatl, and a belt in white and red, with fringes and feather ornaments on the back of their waists,

Each character is associated with a vertical band of pseudoglyphs painted in white and red.

* A very interesting feature about this vase is the presence of small holes on each side of the cracks on the wall, which have been identified as Pre-Columbian repair holes.

* The results of Neutron Activation Analysis of the paste indicate that the pottery workshop could have been located in the region of Chamá and Salinas de los Nueve Cerros, although stylistically it corresponds to the area between Chamá (Alta Verapaz) andNebaj (Quiché).
